- audit, discovery and app redesign

Norlu turns local exploration into a collection game. Its starting point: 80% of tourists visit 10% of places.
how the work was split
The client asked for a redesign. We proposed splitting the work in two phases: an audit first, then the redesign. A team that has built a product knows where the problems are but rarely agrees on their cause. Without that agreement, the disagreement moves into the redesign and gets settled one screen at a time.
what the audit covered
Five areas, chosen because they change behaviour: typography, colour, touch targets, user flow and navigation. The app is used outdoors, one-handed, in bright light and often while walking. The deliverable was a written diagnosis with findings ranked by impact.

discovery and new flows
The work went beyond fixing what existed. We ran discovery sessions with the client to establish what the new features had to do before deciding what they would look like. Flows and screens came from those requirements.
redesign
New interfaces, navigation restructured around the map and the camera, and a component and style library delivered with editable source files. The library makes every following screen faster to build.

two constraints that shaped the interface
Privacy: location is validated only at the moment of check-in, with no background tracking, and the interface says so. No signal: the map and the collection work offline, because the places worth finding often have the worst reception.
outcome
Norlu 2.0 shipped on 11 September 2026, described in Apple's release notes as a completely redesigned experience. The app is live on iOS and Android, in English and French.
